In the week leading up to September 29, a blitz of Sport Day events including community-wide festivals, try-it days, open houses, games, competitions, meet-and-greets, tournaments, fun runs, spectator events and pep rallies will be held across Canada by organizations, schools, teams and towns.
As a performer for one of the largest sports entertainment companies in the world, Stratus knows first-hand that the power of sport is not limited to just what it can do for us as individuals. For over a decade, along with her fellow WWE athletes, spreading the message that sport can be a powerful and positive influence in our communities and amongst our youth is a top priority.
The stats at True Sport shows how good sport can be used intentionally to positively influence a wide range of societal goals, including child and youth development, crime prevention, education, social inclusion and economic and environmental sustainability.
"We want every Canadian to find a way to build more sport and physical activity into their lives," says Kelly Murumets, President and CEO of ParticipACTION, the national voice of physical activity and sport participation in Canada. "If you start with activities you enjoy, you can build your way up to a healthier, more active lifestyle, and our whole society will benefit."
In celebration of Sports Day in Canada, Stratus is welcoming all to her yoga studio in Vaughan for multiple 'try-it days'.
