Metro Toronto: Trish Stratus knows how to lure men ... into yoga

Seven-time World Wrestling Entertainment champion Trish Stratus is committed to helping men embrace yoga through a new exercise DVD made just for them.

After the former wrestler relied on her yoga practice to rehabilitate a nagging back injury, she opened a studio in Vaughan.

She quickly noticed men were inclined to negate the benefits of yoga, she said, dismissing it as "stretching and incense."

Stratus champions a form she refers to as hybrid yoga — a combination of flexibility and strength training.

She made the workout DVD to fill a void in the marketplace, she said, giving men "more squats, more push-ups" in their yoga practice.

In her DVD, men watch former Toronto Blue Jays star Joe Carter perform the 25-minute routine, giving them someone to relate to.

"Everyone in the world should do yoga," she said.

The DVDs are available at trishstratus.com. During November, a portion of the sales will be donated to the Movember campaign to help support men's health initiatives.
