The Second City's Next Comedy Legend - Episode 8
And...Blackout!
It's the last day and it's down to just Kayla, Megan and Ian. Or is it?
"Contractually, I'm pretty sure you guys don't have the power to eliminate me," Ali told the mentors who had axed him in the previous episode. "You guys shredded my headshot, so I drew a new one."
Ali was wrong, and it is down to just Kayla, Megan and Ian, who were busy rehearsing for the night's final show. Second City Alumnus Patrick McKenna (The Red Green Show) dropped by to soothe their pre-show jitters. "This is the CBC, dozens of people will be watching."
Then, came the big show. But first, there was a last minute audition from #8475, an Andrea-somebody. "Hi, My name is Andrea Martin and I'm funny," the woman said. The judges predicted big things for her.
Finally, the show -- with Ali and Jeannie helping out. It was all pretty solid, even a slightly lame musical number about helium from clown-suited Kayla and Ian. "You look like the clown from It," Ali told Ian afterwards. But it was "Freedom Pony," Megan's improvised reggae song about a zebra, that stole the show.
"Megan, you blew my socks off tonight," said Dave as the judges rated the contestants after the stage show. "You've been on a steady climb all the way through this. Each show you get a little bit better." Mick and Elvira agreed. Next came Ian. "You held your own," Elvira said. "In some scenes you were a little self-conscious, unconsciously, if that makes sense." And all three judges had kudos for Kayla, too. "I was watching you like a hawk tonight. You're a really good, good performer," Mick told her.
And then it was time for the judges to decide. Second City's Next Comedy Legend is Megan.
"She was the only one who got better every time," Elvira said.
