Trish joins Jann Arden's fight to end live horse export
After learning of singer and songwriter Jann Arden's work with #HORSESHIT, a campaign to stop Canada from exporting live horses under conditions of duress for human consumption, Trish is reaching out to her Stratuspherians to raise awareness of this unbelievably cruel reality and hopes to add some muscle to the fight.
Each year, thousands of horses are inhumanely shipped from Canada to Japan to be slaughtered & eaten there. Canadian & International shipping regulations are being blatantly ignored by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) as 3-4 horses are crammed in crates smaller than a single horse stall with insufficient head clearance for their ears to protrude through crate roofs. Flights can be up to 13+ hours long, with horses having no access to food or water before they arrive, where they are ultimately slaughtered for fresh, raw, horsemeat. Some horses even suffering death and injuries beforehand.
With today being Help A Horse Day, we ask you to check out the petition put forth by The Canadian Horse Defence Coalition, a collective of people, and national groups, who have joined forces to ban the slaughter of horses for human consumption in Canada. Also, the CHDC is lobbying to ban the inhumane transport and export of live horses to other countries for the same purpose.
"No living creature should endure such cruel and inhumane treatment only to be met with a terrifying death. It is unacceptable for Canada to participate. It needs to end."
