BREAKING: Trish Stratus to face Charlotte Flair at SummerSlam
A fantasy dream match is about to become a reality in less than 2 weeks.
At the biggest party of the summer, two of the most decorated female Superstars in the history of WWE will face off. Confirmed tonight on SmackDown Live, Trish Stratus and Charlotte Flair will go one-on-one at SummerSlam in Toronto.
Trish returned to SmackDown Live as a guest on The King's Court where it was confirmed the match between her and Charlotte Flair is taking place.
This will be the first singles match for Stratus in quite some time. While she battled in tag team action numerous times since her official retirement in 2006, the WWE Hall of Famer has only competed once in a singles match. That bout took place on March 14, 2011, where Stratus was defeated by Vickie Guerrero amid interference from Lay-Cool.
"Stepping back into the ring solo for the first time in more than eight years is daunting, I won't deny it," Stratus said, "but I thrive on challenge and this bout certainly provides that. Charlotte Flair is the best of her generation, I admire her as an athlete and a performer. She will bring out the best in me and at SummerSlam, I will have the opportunity to prove not only to her and everyone watching, but to me – that I still have it."

Stratus' return performance will come in front of her hometown fans in Toronto, the same city that hosted her retirement match at Unforgiven 2006 as well as a handful of matches since she stepped away from the ring full time. In fact, Stratus has yet to be defeated in The Six since that match which saw her defeat bestie Lita for her final Women's Championship.
"There is nothing quite like performIng at home." she said. "The people of Toronto and their passion raise me to new levels each and every time I hit the ring in front of them, and I'm not going to let anyone down. I will give my everything to this match and to my people ."
SummerSlam 2019 takes place Sunday, August 11 at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto and will stream live on WWE Network.
