Trish 'takes it to the mat' and helps raise awareness for lymphoma
When Trish was asked to be the Mistress of Ceremonies for the inaugural take it to the mat, The Great Yoga & Wellness Revolution event this past November, she readily accepted.
Besides featuring Toronto's finest yoga and wellness gurus, the event itself was something Trish held close to her heart. After watching her mother battle and conquer non-hodgkins lymphoma, she saw this as an opportunity to do her part to help raise funds and awareness for Lymphoma Canada's efforts to promote early detection and learn about lymphoma's causes and ultimately find a cure.
The event was a huge success for everyone involved. More than 200 people came out to enjoy a day of health and wellness speakers promoting yoga, nutrition and mindful living. The day closed with a class led by three of Toronto's top yoga instructors. The goal to educate, engage and encourage the audience to enhance their well-being was accomplished as guests of the event were guided through the inspiring day by Trish Stratus who shared her story of her mom's survival. The day raised $150,000.
"Trish was a pleasure to work with from the moment she accepted our invitation to be the Mistress of Ceremonies and an inspiration to all the day of the event," said Signature Events Director Roz Baker in a comment to TrishStratus.com. She also talked about the support Trish provided by helping spread word about the event and donating sales from her new Stratusphere Yoga DVD.
The Stratuspherian support online helped Trish and Team Stratusphere exceed their fundraising goal. If you would like to support Trish and the research for Lymphoma, donations are still being taken here.
take it to the mat is set for an encore in November 2015. Stay tuned to takeittothemat.ca for further details.
