Major League All-Star and World Series hero Joe Carter comes home to Toronto for his third annual celebrity golf tournament and announces release of DVD with WWE and Fitness Icon Trish Stratus

The Joe Carter Classic brought world renowned sports and entertainment figures to the city as they joined avid golfers Wednesday in helping Joe raise awareness and funds, benefiting the Children's Aid Foundation.

"I'm very proud and humbled by the generosity of those who have donated their time, money and efforts towards the success of this tournament," said tournament host Joe Carter. "In just two years we've raised more than $250,000 to help disadvantaged children and youth through the Children's Aid Foundation. And this year we have an ambitious goal of doubling that amount."

A supporter for the last 3 years, Trish has been ‘one of the boys' as she joins the list of celebrity fan-favourites which include Charles Barkley, Ray Bourque, Julius "Dr. J" Erving, Kelly Gruber, Cito Gaston and Gordie Howe.

"I love being a part of this day and reuniting with everyone at this annual event Joe puts on which brings in the very best from the sports world and all for a great cause," she said. "I look forward to it every year!"

This year featured a new list of celebrity supporters such as Doug Gilmour, Ian Leggatt, Lennox Lewis, Anthony Anderson and Mitch ‘Wild Thing' Williams – who made his first public appearance with Joe in Canada since they met in the '93 World Series.

"The funds raised by the Joe Carter Classic offer a lifeline to so many youth and their families in the child welfare system," said Len Gamache, president of the Children's Aid Foundation. "We're proud to partner with Joe and our tournament sponsors in working to extend the reach of our programs aimed at supporting youth and strengthening the family environment."

The Joe Carter Classic held at the Eagles Nest Golf Course in Maple, Ontario included a day of golf, dinner and a live auction, and ended with a VIP celebrity after party in downtown Toronto.

Presenting sponsors for the tournament were TD Bank Group and BlackBerry. Supporting sponsors are SDI Marketing, Canada Goose, Callaway, CIBC, Toronto Star, Charlton Hobbs and Labatt. Stratusphere joined the list this year, providing items from Stratus' yoga studio and product line for the auction.

Those in attendance also got a sneak peek of the upcoming video ‘Stratusphere Yoga for Men', Trish's latest DVD release which features Joe Carter. Filmed earlier this year, Carter and Stratus take viewers through an easy to follow workout designed specifically for men. The DVD includes a candid interview in which the future hall of famers discuss both of their sports careers and the injuries that went with it. Trish and Joe announced their DVD project and kicked off the tournament by leading the celebrities and golfers in a warm-up yoga stretch before they hit the greens. A rare limited edition copy of the DVD, signed by both celebrities was auctioned off later that evening.
