WWE.com: Trish keeps herself Stratusfied
Photo: WWE.comOAKLAND, Calif - A jubilant WWE Universe witnessed the return of Trish Stratus at WWE Elimination Chamber, where it was announced that she would join Booker T as a trainer on WWE Tough Enough (premiering on USA Network April 4, the night after WrestleMania XXVII). Fans inside California's Oracle Arena were also thrilled to watch the seven-time Women's Champion come to the aid of fellow Diva Kelly Kelly, following a heinous attack from Michelle McCool and Layla. Needless to say, Trish Stratus isn't afraid to still mix it up – and as WWE.com's Joey Styles discovered, she certainly isn't worried about taking on new projects and challenges in her life.
WWE.COM: Trish, at Elimination Chamber, you took it upon yourself to come down to the ring. Want to tell us a little about that?
TRISH STRATUS: I'm joining Booker T as one of the Tough Enough trainers, so he asked me to come down to Elimination Chamber so he could make the announcement on live TV.
WWE.COM: So, why did you feel the need to come down to the ring and help Kelly Kelly? Is it a friendship with Kelly, a dislike for Vickie Guerrero and Lay-Cool, or both?
STRATUS: Lay-Cool irks me a bit. They've been running their mouths off, so I thought I'd show them who's "tough enough." [laughs]
There's just a little rule to take away [from tonight's experience]: Whenever I come to a WWE event – although I am retired – I should always, always have my wrestling boots. When you wear heels and you try to be a Diva, it's not a good thing, as we saw this evening when I tripped up ap a little bit. Hey, I'm retired. I tried to deliver some Stratusfaction, and I'm a little bit rusty.[laughs]
WWE.COM: What a perfect segue. You are retired, but you're still very, very busy. I visit TrishStratus.com often, and it always seems like you have more going on. What are you doing right now?
STRATUS: I have been keeping busy. The latest thing that I'm very excited about is this action film I did, called Bail Enforcers. I was doing some stunts – I actually did all my own stunts, which was so much fun, I just had a blast doing it – and there's a little "leak" of the footage on my website, so you can see a little snippet of the film there.
WWE.COM: And how's your yoga studio doing?
STRATUS: Stratusphere Yoga Studio [stratusphereyoga.com], in the suburbs just north of Toronto, is doing very well. It started out with women coming in and doing yoga, but now I'm seeing athletes come in, like the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Argonauts. I think [yoga has] become more mainstream. More athletes are talking about how it has helped them and their careers, so it's nice to see that more and more people are accepting of yoga.
Things have gone so well, in fact, that I've actually parlayed my yoga studio's success into a fitness and yoga product line. "Stratusphere Living" is what I'm developing right now, and we will actually be launching in retailers across Canada in the fall. Everything from yoga mats to blocks, you name it.
I'm developing my own style of workout as well. I found that doing yoga for so many years, it did wonderful things to my body, but I was losing a little bit of strength and conditioning. So, I started integrating some resistance movements with it, and I started doing Stratusphere Yoga, my own style of yoga fitness. I'm going to be doing a DVD on it, and I want you, Joey Styles, to be doing it with me.
WWE.COM: Is there anything else you'd like to tell the WWE Universe, Trish?
STRATUS: Just to come see me at TrishStratus.com, and on Twitter @TrishStratuscom. Plus, I think we should have the world premiere of my Bail Enforcers trailer on WWE.com.
WWE.COM: Consider it done.
