Trish to host a celebrity party at the 2007 Grey Cup Festival
Toronto - At a festival launch party held this evening at Ultra Supper Club in downtown Toronto, the 2007 Grey Cup organizers announced details of the four day Grey Cup Festival leading up to the Grey Cup Championship on Sunday, November 25, 2007 at Rogers Centre. With a size and scope like none before, the festival brings together music, events, comedy and street parties.
At night, the MTCC will be home to the Grey Cup Party Series, a place to spend the nights with friends and take in musical concerts. With a wide array of musical genres and acts still to be announced, confirmed acts include Trailer Park Boys and Hinder on Friday night and Great Big Sea, Spirit of the West and Toronto's own Lowest of the Low on Saturday night. A special ticketed pre-game tailgate on Sunday will be headlined by the Barenaked Ladies and openers Spirit of the West. The Grey Cup half-time act, which will also perform a special Grey Cup Concert on Saturday night at the Air Canada Centre, will be announced in the months to come.
The Grey Cup Festival will include two street festivals, the Pepsi Front Street Festival and the VIA Rail Bremner Street Festival. Free to enter, the Front Street Festival will be the perfect stop for adults and will include a licensed area and free rush hour concerts. Fun for the whole family, the Bremner Street Festival will include a children's interactive area and a football fan interactive area. Other highlights include a BMX Bike Park presented by The Argos Foundation - Stop The Violence and a complete Grey Cup House being constructed by CFL players, fans and volunteers to benefit Habitat for Humanity Toronto. Both street festivals will culminate in free tailgate parties immediately before the Championship game on Sunday.
Besides the game itself, the hardest tickets to get during the Grey Cup Festival will be tickets to the "Blue Carpet Series". Beginning with the Rogers CFL Player Awards on Thursday night at Roy Thomson Hall, the traditional awards will come to Toronto with a new twist. The evening will be produced by Second City as a Tribute to John Candy, and hosted by the legendary Dan Aykroyd. The top of the Tower is the place to be on Friday night with the CN Tower Celebrity Party hosted by Trish Stratus, featuring a special performance by Blue Rodeo. The Scotiabank Grey Cup Gala will be held on Saturday night at the Liberty Grand and will feature the comedy of Corner Gas star Brent Butt. More celebs and acts will join the fun which will benefit Sick Kids Foundation.
