TSN.ca: One night only: Trish joins TSN telecast

Press     March 5, 2004

Toronto Maple Leafs fans know that WWE Diva and hometown girl Trish Stratus isn't one to shy away from a game at the Air Canada Centre, especially when future Hall of Fame defenceman Brian Leetch is making his debut in blue and white.

Stratus attended the Leafs' home game on Thursday against the New York Islanders and even sat for commentary with Joe Bowen and Harry Neale at the beginning of the second period on the regional broadcast of Molson Leaf Hockey on TSN. The Maple Leafs won the game 6-2. For Neale and Stratus, the game marked a big reunion.

"We sat together on a flight from Anaheim to New Jersey last year," Neale said. "I was on my way to Game Seven (of the Stanley Cup Final between the Devils and Ducks), she was en route to England to wrestle on tour for WWE."

Bowen and Neale also complimented Stratus for her recent appearance and contributions for the annual Conn Smythe Celebrity Dinner and Auction in Toronto.

Stratus, who makes her home in nearby Richmond Hill, spends most of her down time in the Toronto area.

Stratus entered World Wrestling Entertainment in 2000 first as a manager for several young superstars, including former WWE Intercontinental Champion and fellow Canadian Val Venis. She has held the WWE Women's Championship on several occasions and is one of the toughest, most athletic women to enter the ring.
