Trish ready for NHL playoffs
It's been a long drought for the Leafs nation. After failing to miss the playoffs year after year, the Toronto Maple Leafs clinched their first playoff berth in nearly a decade in a 4-1 win over the Ottawa Senators. And no Leafs fan is more excited than Toronto's own, Trish Stratus.
"Finally!," Trish said excitedly over the phone. "Every season we seemed to start hot but were just unable to close the deal. Things got tight there at the end, but the Leafs were able to prevail which is what fighting teams do! I'm super excited to be able to say we have the chance to play for something in June. It's great for the fans and our city!"
As it currently stands, the Leafs' first round opponent has yet to be determined but here's a look at 3 most likely match-ups.
They could be tested early in a series with the Boston Bruins, a team that the Leafs have one win against in their last 10 match-ups
"Revenge is sweet," said Trish. "The playoffs is a whole new 'season' of stats, so we can throw out any regular season statistics and get a fresh go at the Bruins. I can't think of better way for the Leafs to make a more impactful statement than taking out one of the east's best right off the bat."
The second is the hottest team in the month of April – the Washington Capitals led by Alex Ovechkin.
And the third possibility has Trish ecstatic – Montreal Canadiens:
"You have to go back 34 years to find the last time both teams met in the playoffs. Hockey is Canada's game. Having 2 Canadian teams with history like the Habs & Leafs is the making of a dream. Both cities will be rocking like no other!"
So does she think the Cup comes back home this year?
"Of course!," she laughed.
