They've been compared to the Supermodels of the 90s, who monopolized the runways & newsstands for fashion; the fitness industry was dominated by a group of women with the emergence of the fitness modeling world. Noticing a void in the fitness world filled with bodybuilders, fitness publishing mogul Robert Kennedy carved out a corner for a more attainable and relatable physique and coined the term 'fitness model.' Thus, an industry was born. And there was a handful of women who became the pioneers of this world whose presence could make or break a magazine issue or gym/store opening.
One of these women was Monica Brant, who first appeared on the scene with the cover of Muscle & Fitness in November 1994. After winning the coveted Ms. Fitness Olympia title in 1998, she was established as one of the top females in the industry. In that same year, Trish Stratus burst onto the scene and joined Brant, along with names like Amy Fahdli and Vicky Pratt, as THE faces of the fitness world.
Sitting down for the first time in over 20 years, Stratus and Brant go way back in this 3-part interview series. Join these fitness icons as they take a stroll down memory lane and talk about building an industry and what it took to dominate it. Covering ground primarily untouched in typical wrestling interviews, Brant taps into 'pre-wrestling Trish' and reveals how she made the transition and managed to once again be at the forefront of a burgeoning industry and establish herself as the greatest WWE Female Superstar of the modern-era.
