Toronto Star: Stratus struts her yoga moves

It was a case of the beauty versus the beasts.
And you know what?
The beasts didn't really fare all that badly.
Four Argonauts – offensive guard Taylor Robertson, defensive tackle Adriano Belli, linebacker Kevin Eiben and running back Jeff Johnson – were put through the paces yesterday by former WWE diva Trish Stratus at her newly-opened Stratusphere Yoga school in Vaughan, and survived to tell about it.
"It's great that they were open-minded enough to want to try it," said Stratus.
David Bruni, the Ashtanga teacher who conducted the session, said he was surprised by the flexibility shown by the players.
"Normally guys who are over 300 pounds (in the case of Robertson and Belli) can't even touch their toes," he said.
The workout left the players huffing, puffing, shedding copious amounts of sweat and offering comments, some of which could not be printed in a family newspaper.
On a more serious note, the gregarious Belli said yoga helps athletes in any sport with better flexibility and balance.
"Especially big guys like Taylor and myself, who are over 300 pounds," he said.
"It was exciting to do, especially with Trish Stratus."
Johnson said yoga helps develop the body core – the area just below the chest to just above the knees – as well as the mind.
"Core strength is essential in football," he said.
"The stronger you are in your core you're better able to control your opponent.
"And when you're running with the ball you have more control of your body.
"Mentally it helps you focus."
Belli, however, seemed to have difficulty focusing yesterday.
The fact he was working out beside Stratus might have had something to do with it.
