Overnight Crockpot Oats
Overnight Crockpot Oats
Prep Time: 5 mins
Servings:
Crockpot Ingredients:
- 2 cups steel cut oatmeal
- 8 cups water
Additions:
- 4-5 tbsp hemp seeds
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 1/4 cup raisins
1. Add the oats to your crockpot, fill it with 8 cups of water.
2. Set your crockpot to low and cook for 8 hours.
I like to cook this overnight and, in the morning, scoop out 1 cup of fresh, hot oatmeal. I store the rest in my refrigerator and use 1 cup servings at a time. If you want to get really organized, store it in individual storage containers, so it is ready to go in the morning! My favorite additions are listed above, but you may add whatever you like. Some ideas are nuts, honey, jam, and dried fruit.
Note that I turn this into a complete meal by adding hemp seeds which add protein. You may sweeten according to your taste. I find that adding maple syrup and raisins gives me just the right amount of sweetness... This is the part you can mix it up – just be aware of the added calories.
