Ontario Sports Hall of Fame honors Trish Stratus

By TrishStratus.com / @trishstratuscom

Trish Stratus will be recognized by the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame at its annual Induction & Awards Gala in Toronto this October.

In an announcement released earlier today, the first-ever female Iron Mike Mazurki Award winner (2016) and WWE Hall of Famer (2013) was named the recipient of the Sandy Hawley Community Service Award. Trish is the first female recipient of the award, which has been given out annually since 2010.

Named after one of the most successful jockeys in history, the Hawley Award is given to an individual who best exemplifies a dedication to the community. Past recipients include Adriano Belli and Daryl Sittler.

Since entering the public spotlight, Trish has used her international status to make an impact with a large number of causes, particularly youth charities. She has been a part of numerous charity events and through her fitness lifestyle brand Stratusphere, she has made positive contributions towards improving the well-being of her community. Through leadership and dedication, Trish and her team have helped raised hundreds of thousands of dollars working with various community-based initiatives.

"Giving back to my community was something that was instilled in me from my days with WWE. As a global brand, we recognized the many opportunities that we could make an impact towards," Trish said. "After retiring from the ring, I have remained active as an ambassador for WWE and have continued my work with my own brand to support events and initiatives locally. Being recognized by the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame is truly special to me."
